The Detroit Alumni Chapter congratulates Fred Gray of Montgomery Alabama for receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom Award

On July 7th, 2022, President Joe Biden awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Attorney Fred Gray who graduated from Alabama State University in 1951. He is a lawyer from Montgomery Alabama that is responsible for some of the freedoms that we have now. Born on December 14th, 1930 he is still practicing law in Tuskegee Alabama. Some of his most notable cases have been the Montgomery Bus Boycott and, seeking justice for the victims of the notorious Tuskegee Experiment.

Some of clients included the Alabama NAACP, Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. The Detroit Alumni Chapter support US Rep Terri Sewell (AL) and, Alabama State University Professor Dr. Derryn Moten asking President Biden to present Mr. Gray with this award. If anybody is deserving of one, Mr. Gray has truly demonstrated all of the qualities through his actions.
